If you are a collector of books, or want to know a significant amount of detail about your TR, this book is highly recommended. --Triumph Sports Car Club San Diego--The details and information presented are very well documented and correct. I have owned most of the subject cars new or near new and can substantiate most of the work presented. It is a standard reference source that I use all the time when discussing Originality issues with TR2-3 owners·This book is mandatory for anyone that has a TR series car. --Vintage Triumph Register; The Collector's Originality Guide to Triumph TR2, TR3, TR4, TR5, TR6, TR7 & TR8 , by Bill Piggott (MBI Publishing, 2009), is the new edition by the well known automotive author. Bill Piggott has a vast knowledge of the Triumph cars, being the Archivist and Principal Registrar of the U.K. based, TR Register, and he has specialized in documenting the Triumph TR models. This time, Piggott has produced a compilation volume, updating the material in his previously published works, to make 'the' definitive book on Triumph originality. This book is now the undisputed 'bible' for Triumph restorers. While Piggott s previous books covered each Triumph model in detail, this book provides an expanded and corrected version, not simply a rehash of the old works, and allows comparisons of all models in one text. The book provides a handy reference guide, by grouping the various models so you can compare photographs of specific areas, like suspension items, interior details and engine bay details to compare against later models and to have a visual reference guide for these changes. Many other areas are covered, including color choices and combinations, and detail upon detail of small features of the TRs are noted and compared for the TR enthusiast and restorer. There are also great sections documenting optional equipment, identification numbers and production changes in each section. In the previous books, Piggott often overlooked many of the US model specifications and focused on the home market (U.K.) cars, which was unfortunate, given that the vast majority of these models were sold in the United States. In the new book, he has updated the material to include a lot of detail information on U.S. specification cars, which is a vast improvement over the prior publications. And, while there are a few small items he has missed (like the 75 TR6 parking light differences to the 76, and the fact that all US cars were equipped with steel wheels in 74- 76) the book has so much going for it that very few Triumph enthusiasts would find any cause to complain. Piggott has taken great efforts to cover every detail of each model in the series, including the rare TR2 Francorchamp Coupe, the Triumph Italia and the Triumph Dove as well as a very detailed section on the often forgotten Triumph TR7 and TR8. Bonus chapters also include a detailed Triumph TR buying Guide. I have had the book for about a week now, and have spent hours reading and enjoying both the detail that Piggott has put into researching the Marque and the fantastic detailed color photographs of all of the cars. Without question, this is a 'must have' book for any Triumph enthusiast! The book is 352 pages in length and weighs over 3 ½ pounds and lists for a very reasonable $50.00. --Gold Coast British Car Club Newsletter; This weighty tome brings together three seperate books by bill Piggott that have long been out of print, to create a complete gudie to every model in the TR series, providing all the information you could ever want in the quest to restore a TR to its as-new condition. The author is archivist and Principle Registrar of the TR Register, and he has drawn on all his experience to cover every aspect of each model in the series, from exterior colours and mechanical systems to the numerous small changes on each new model. Excellent refrence book. --Auto Express, July, 2009

What was the first series production car to be fitted with front disc brakes? Citroen DS or Jaguar XK 120? The honour is claimed for the the 1956 Triumph TR3, in this new book by Bill Piggott, a compilation of three earlier books by Mr Piggott. It is a complete guide to every model in this classic British Sports car series, form the 1953 TR2 the the wedge-shaped TR7 in the 1970's, which closed the tr series in 1981 with the V-engined TR8 version. The Tr series of sports cars grew form post-war necessity to match jaguar, Morgan, and MG with limited resources. The author, a lwayer truned Tr archivist, records ' the marriage of an essentialy pre-war saloon chassis, with a tourquey engine destined to power a tractor'.The early TRs were drop-waisted and rakish, never mind that they were not as lithe as they looked. The book takes us through the decades of TR, of which Michelotti's TR4 was the prettiest, built at Speke, near liverpool. Bill Piggott covers every aspect of each model in the series, form exterior colours and mechanical systems to the deatil features of the interior. The promise of the TR5 and TR6 (seen on the book cover with an early TR2) was sullied by the TR7, a car unlovely to look at, particularly in the coupe body, with a poor reliability record and with a monocoque shell prone to corrossion, which is why you do not see many today - Yorkshire Evening Post, July, 2009 - Forget the pre-war roadsters, real Triumph sports cars started in 1953 with the Vanguard-engineered Tr2, evolving over the next 30 years through TR3, 4, 5 to the monoccque TR7 and 8. Authro Bill Piggott has combined and updated his three earlier TR bibles. it is the definative guide to all things TR, detailed specs, ongoing production changes, colour schemes and trims, and great photos. A must for owner, anorak, collector, restorer, and historian. --London Evening Standard, July 2009

This is a weighty 28 x 22 cm hardback edition of some 325 full colour pages now and weighs in at 1.6 kg. The pictures - expertly executed by freelance photographer Simon Clay - were shot both in the uk and USA and are as they were in the original book, simply stunning. The picures are from the origional photoshoots with a few exceptions, but the layout is slighly different, in a very modern and easy to read manner, featuring the paint, production, numbers, etc detail boxes that I like so much. The quality has improved, with this offering being that much more crisper than the earlier editions. Bill Piggott needs no intorduction here. As the Tr register archivist his knowledge of the marque and vast amount of books to his mane levae us with the definative words on what is original and what is not. Really it does not matter whetehr you are into roigionality or not when it cxomes dowm to your own particular TR, for this book is not aimed at the originality anoraks. it is aimed at giving you a starting point, where you can view a car you are intending to purchase and see what pevious owners have doen in the way of modifications, changes, and re-hashing, It is a great refrence bok for the rebuilder and restoreser, too, whether for the whole car, just the interior or the engine bay. This brings me to he cars in the book, for thet were the very best original TRs you would find at the time. Some one-owner TRs from brand-new with original paint and trimming, ohers vey carefully rebuilt featuring only the the finest correct parts and some not so pristine but worthy of inclusion due to their originality. There are seperate chapters on bodywork, engine, transmission, interiors, and so on, in fact everyting necassery is covered, to produce what is the very best value for money TR originality book on the market. I enthused about the original series, as did TR Register membars at Club meetings around the world, and this all-in-one offering gets the thumbs-up once again. An ideal publication for those new and not so new into the TR marque, for those whao may have found the origional series a little costly, this book is just for you. --TRAction, August, 2009
