Reseña del editor:
Previous editions are cited in Guide to Reference Books and Walford's Guide to Reference Material. This edition happened to appear simultaneously with an eight-volume challenger: American Men and Women of Science (Gale, 2005), which offers similar entries, though perhaps with less personal information and less geographical reach. This volume of Who's Who contains biographical entries for over 40,000 scientists, medical doctors, and engineers from 125 countries. The entries list the subject's name, occupation, vital statistics (including birthdate, names of parents, spouse, and children), education, certification, career statistics, awards, military service, achievements, religion, political affiliation, and addresses. Whenever possible, entries mention the title or a brief description of patents, patents pending, inventions, invention disclosures, discoveries, designs, pioneering developments, and current research. Two indexes list the names by geography and by field. A few of the entries are of business executives and some social scientists. Annotation ©2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
