"This is an opportunity to look at, to really see, what an accomplished photographer is saying with his photographs. . . . Ride along with Oliver as he travels seventy miles up a tedious road hoping to photograph Denali, Alaska's highest mountain--in fact the highest mountain in North America. Sense the earthen characteristics of Missouri's landscape, with its ancient streambeds, mountain ridges, second-growth forests, and early morning ground fog. Listen as he tells you why he chose the approach he used for each photograph, rendering the subject sharply, clearly, and usually in black and white." --From the Foreword by Al Weber This is an opportunity to look at, to really see, what an accomplished photographer is saying with his photographs. . . . Reseña del editor:
In Missouri Landscapes, renowned nature photographer Kevin Sink provides more than fifty breathtaking color images of Missouri's most dramatic and beautiful landscapes. His passion for the environment and his expertise in photography are evident in these lush photos, which so beautifully capture the delicate artistry of nature. Whether setting up camp by moonlight amid a chorus of tree frogs or rising two hours before sunrise for a predawn like through a dim forest into quiet isolation, Sink immerses himself totally in nature's vast embrace. Missouri Landscapes is the culmination of many such trips into the diverse natural areas of Missouri. Although some of the locations photographed for this book are well traveled, the majority of them represent Missouri's more pristine natural areas or places within the state parks that are less frequently visited. Sink went to these locations two to four times in order to get just the right shot. Each image is matched perfectly with an accompanying text - a quote from an insightful thinker such as Einstein, Emerson, or Thoreau - to depict the tangible relevance of nature in our lives. Anyone who enjoys the beauty of our natural surroundings will treasure this spectacular book.
