Reseña del editor:
Without being academically sterile or overly sentimental, 'The Fine Art of Dying' offers an inspirational perspective on the death experience from the compassionate point of view of a registered nurse with fourteen years' experience working in hospice. The information presented is current and accessible. The book offers a refreshing new perspective on the actual process of dying while also dispelling fears about hospice care. The spiritual aspects of dying are rendered in a new light, without the religious overtones that are commonly brought to this topic. JD Guinn provides a step-by-step description of the dying process, exposing myths, explaining the physical symptoms to be expected, and offering guidance on the difficult choices to be made. Experiencing the death process as a spiritual work with the potential for empowerment, the reader is given a sense of hope about choices made, regardless of the routes chosen. Guinn's storytelling, with vivid, often humorous accounts of the patients served during the author's career in hospice care, accomplish the healing of wounds and a transformation of sorrows into gratitude and peace.
Biografía del autor:
J.D. Guinn has nearly fifteen years of hospice experience. Through his years of direct patient care, he has accumulated a wealth of information and insight about the dying process. As a registered nurse, his primary objective was the medical management of symptoms. However, his close relationships with patients and families allowed him opportunities to explore the emotional and spiritual aspects of dying. He shares those insights in this book. As a patient advocate, Jack now works directly with patients and families in a consulting role to help them with their unique needs. Jack also provides consulting services to hospice organizations helping them provide more responsive, compassionate, and individualized comprehensive care plans for their patients.
