John M. Toothman is an Associate Professor at Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington, Delaware. After obtaining a Ph.D. in Human Behavior from United States International University in California, Dr. Toothman traveled the world conducting Human Communication Workshops for the United States Air Force. For over 30 years, he has been a professor of psychology and a psychotherapist. Dr.Toothman has published numerous books and articles which deal with basic human behavioral issues. His most recent book is Conducting the Experimental Group: An Introduction to Group Dynamics. While working in the academic and psychotherapy fields, he developed an intense relationship with the world of thoroughbred racing. The Reinsman: The Nick Shuk Story was developed based on his relationship with Nick Shuk, who was his childhood hero in the 1940s and 1950s and became his trusted friend in the 1980s. Dr.Toothman was able to relive many of his own memories that related to racing, as well as capture the glories and hardships of a valiant and courageous jockey. Dr.Toothman divides his time between his homes in Delaware and New Jersey. His wife, Roxanne, serves as his editor and consultant. Together they travel and engage in their passions of art, antiques, and horse racing
