The people in West Monterey, Pennsylvania, are living close to God and the church is the center of their lives but some mysteries, misunderstandings, and surprises need solved before the town can celebrate Christmas 1935. The pastor and schoolteacher are new this year and planning a big surprise at the Christmas Supper and everyone in town is worried that the pond won't freeze over and the ice-skating party will be cancelled.
