Reseña del editor:
Born on September 4th, 1980, Benjamin grew up for the first few years of his life in Saint Paul, Minnesota and then moved to Escondido, California at the age of six. From there he moved to Mountain View, California when he was seven and into Milpitas, California when he was eight. There he remained until January of 1998. On February 2nd, 1998 he arrived in Forest Lake, Minnesota and stayed there for a number of years, finally settling down in Saint Paul, Minnesota. At the age of thirteen Benjamin discovered Wicca and the Pagan movement as well as the Gothic movement, but did not begin expressing the Goth side of himself until he was eighteen. Being diagnosed as a schizophrenic when he was sixteen changed his life forever, and he would often say that he longed to become “normal” again, though it was simply not to be. He is constantly plagued by voices and various hallucinations including those that severely affect his sight and hearing as well as the other senses to a lesser degree. To deal with the stress of his illness, he turned to cutting and self-mutilation, though it did little to help him alleviate the hellish nightmare he was drowning in. His poems contained within this book are a reflection of the illness in all of its horrible glory, from moments of whimsical happiness to brooding depression and outright paranoia and visits from beings that he terms as “the Others,” or simply as “Them.” Only one person has ever been witness to his full self and for her kindness and love that she shared with him, he will always be grateful and cherish the memories that they have together. The madness of his illness still haunts him even in sleep to this day and will probably do so for the rest of his life. He deems it his lifelong mission to spread the word on this nightmare of an illness and encourages those that have it to seek what help they can from any source that they can, even if it is only a friendly ear to babble to incessantly. He wishes only to share what this illness has done and is still doing to him and what he has learned from it with others. What you see within the pages of this book and what you feel from its haunting words is what you get. Do you dare turn the pages over and delve into the bright, scorching light of the darkness of madness and paranoia?
