May I present to you a small taste of my heart, a sort of amuse-bouche of my personality and view of life. My writings are meant to inspire, encourage, provoke thought, and make you ask yourself, "Where has the flavor of my own heart gone to?" Leilani VanArsdale began writing poetry at age 15. She was inspired by a Lauryn Hill song called "Forgive Them Father". She picked up a yellow legal pad and wrote a rap song about the injustices she saw in her own high school. Realizing she wasn't cut out for rap she continued to write poetry with distinctive rhythms and modern imagery that possess a classic quality. She wrote hundreds of poems over the next decade but never shared many of them until now. She was born on Kauai, Hawaii and raised in Sedona, Arizona. She holds a Bachelors degree in Christian Ministry and has a passion and love for all expressions of art. Not only does she write, but she also enjoys dancing, singing, acting, photography, painting and cooking.
