Biografía del autor:

Kevin Dean began his life of world travel at the age of five, when he shipped aboard one of the last American liners steaming from San Francisco to his family’s new home in Hawai’i. He later served in the U.S. Navy as a lieutenant and continued to wander the globe. In addition to sailing to both the Middle and Far East, Kevin explored Europe numerous times independently, always keeping a journal to chronicle his unpredictable adventures. In all, he has set foot in 27 countries (and counting). During these Continental trips he fine-tuned his skills of independent budget travel, seeking meaningful interaction with foreign cultures and people while striving to maintain personal hygiene above tramp-level. This “seat-of-the-pants” process led to countless delights and chagrins that filled the pages of his private log. Upon leaving the service, Kevin completed an MA in history as he developed his formal writing skills. For the next five years he taught high school science and history before moving into a business career when he realized that he didn’t really care for teenagers massed in large packs. But the corporate world is a bit too constraining on Kevin's penchant for tasteful but cheeky story telling. This prompted him to take his travel journals down from the shelf and begin to share the fascinating and amusing tales of cheap trips and wanderlust fulfilled. His European journeys continue, first with his wife and now with his young family of four. At present, Kevin works his business career by day while producing books, travel articles, and his blog, passportonashoestring.com, by night. With an eclectic career as military officer, teacher, and corporate professional, while holding degrees in both engineering and history, Kevin’s experiences richly inform his stories. One of the few things as satisfying as travel, he has found, is writing about it. His literary passion is to provide entertaining travelogues that both educate his audience and tickle their funny bones.
