Reseña del editor:
The “2013 Kosher Travel Guide” is the perfect book for the kosher traveler when planning a trip anywhere across the U.S., Canada and Israel. Each of the 267 communities listed in the Guide has been thoroughly researched for accurate, updated, practical information, helpful for the kosher traveler before he starts out to an unknown destination. The “2013 Kosher Travel Guide”, a project of Kashrus Magazine (since 1980, the “Periodical For The Kosher Consumer”), includes what to see, where to stay, where to eat and where to shop in each community. Each listing includes restaurants, takeout food and kosher departments in supermarkets in or near that community, as well as information about the local kosher certifying agency. Before leaving, it is important to check on the kosher standards of the various communities, as kosher standards vary across the United States and across the world. Consult your rabbi for guidance. The kosher traveler also has other needs, such as synagogues for daily and Sabbath prayers, Torah classes, mikvaos, and eruvim. All that information, including contact people, telephone numbers, addresses, online information and email addresses, can be found in the Guide. But, the kosher traveler wants even more. How about hospitality for the Sabbath, help with relocating, seasonal programming and a host of other needs? The “2013 Kosher Travel Guide” is 104 pages packed with all this information. Included in this guide are general tips for kosher traveling, and special tips for air travelers. For more than 33 years, Kashrus Magazine’s “Kosher Travel Guide” has been our most appreciated annual guide. The information found in this guide is a combination of research in our office, first-hand reporting from our representatives living in the various communities, as well as feedback from our many thousands of readers based upon their personal experiences visiting these communities. To see details of our other guides, including the “Passover Shopping Guide” and the “Kosher Supervision Guide”, as well as selections from the pages of Kashrus Magazine, go to www.kashrusmagazine.com. And be sure to share with us any additional information about these 267 destinations of which you become aware. Bon voyage!
Biografía del autor:
Rabbi Yosef Wikler is the founding Editor and Publisher of Kashrus Magazine, publishers of the “2013 Kosher Travel Guide.” Since October 1980, Rabbi Wikler has been the “Ralph Nader of the kosher world.” He has served as an ombudsman for the kosher consumer in the world of politics, in numerous organizations, at conferences, with kosher food companies and their kosher certifying agencies. He is contacted by kosher agencies from across the world to help notify the American kosher consumers of information which they need to know. When someone enters the field of kosher supervision, opens a business and wishes to choose a kosher supervisor, or a young man decides to go into kosher supervision, he often confers with Rabbi Wikler. Primarily, Rabbi Wikler is an educator, one who has trained many rabbis and kosher supervisors (mashgichim). Ordained in 1975 by Yeshiva Emek Halacha, Rabbi Wikler served as Menahel of Yeshiva Birkas Reuven from 1980-1998. Rabbi Wikler’s career in writing spans nearly four decades. First there was a regular column in the “Boro Park Community News,” entitled “What’s the Bracha?” Following, he wrote a regular column on kosher in the “World Jewish Tribune,” a weekly newspaper. His book, “The Foods We Eat, A Kashrus Handbook” was published in 1980. Soon after Rabbi Wikler started publishing Kashrus Magazine. In addition to the bimonthly magazine, Kashrus Magazine publishes a monthly newsletter, “Kashrus Monthly”. Rabbi Wikler is also the host of a weekly radio program, “Kashrus On The Air” (which airs over JRoot Radio, 97.5 FM).
