In honor of their discoverer Nikolai Kondratieff, these long waves are called Kondratieff cycles. Since the late 18th century, economists have empirically proven five Kondratieff cycles. The fifth Kondratieff cycle ended with the turn of this century, while a new long cycle, the sixth Kondratieff, has begun. However, health is not just seen in a physical, but also in a holistic sense, encompassing the physical, psychological, mental, psycho-mental, social and spiritual aspects. Why are health expenditures that were previously considered a mere cost factor going to assume the role of a growth locomotive in the future? Biografía del autor:

Leo Nefiodow Born in 1939, he is one of the most well known German experts of the Theory of Long Waves and one of the most renowned trailblazers of the information society. From 1965 until 2002, he worked in key positions in research and development in the industry and the public sectors. He also served as an advisor to the German Federal Ministry of Research and Technology and multiple German state governments, international organizations and private companies. In 2004, he was a member of the “Our Future Economy” task force by the Club of Rome. One of its emphases includes future research.   The first edition of his book "Der sechste Kondratieff" (The Sixth Kondratieff) was published in 1996. It was the first publication in the world to identify the sixth Kondratieff. Nefiodow illustrates a holistic concept of health as the catalyst and carrier of the sixth Kondratieff and makes recommendations for handling the current problems such as the lack of a sustainable growth concept in the developed countries, high unemployment rates and underemployment, insufficient health care productivity, globally increasing disorder, crime and destruction. Since 1996, Nefiodow has written more than 100 publications and given over 300 lectures on the sixth Kondratieff. He has proven the forecasting ability of the Theory of Long Waves in his publications and lectures and paved the way to an extensive discussion on the future. Those countries, regions, companies and people that focus on the sixth Kondratieff early on, will be among the winners in the 21st century. Simone Nefiodow Simone Nefiodow completed her degree in education at the University of Koblenz, Germany, and her Master of Theology at the Faculty of Theology in Paderborn. As a scientific officer for the Nefiodow Consulting Firm (“Unternehmensberatung Nefiodow”), she has worked on the practical implementation of the Theory of Long Waves for the past 20 years. Her key areas of expertise and research focus are social, mental and spiritual health. She is also a freelance journalist.
