In Caterpillar in a Cornfield, Alisha Brubaker creates an unexpected hero who shows children how important it is to trust God with their futures.
Delightfully illustrated with vibrant, full-page pictures by Amy Berga, the story follows young Caterpillar as he sets off on his first adventure through Brubaker Acres. As the rhyming tale unfolds, Caterpillar meets a ladybug and an ant, whose abilities and skills are easy to see. Caterpillar knows that he may not be as quick and strong as his new friends, but he believes that he’s important just as he is—and that it’s worth waiting patiently for what God has in store for him.
While parents will appreciate Caterpillar’s heartfelt spiritual message, kids will love his cheery and optimistically adventurous spirit, as well as the fun images that brighten his story. Both will be glad to know that this is the first in the ongoing Brubaker Acres series.
Born in Panama and raised an army brat, Alisha Brubaker loves to travel the world; but, while Germany and the Philippines are two of her favorite places to visit, nothing quite tops fishing at home on Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula. When she doesn’t have a halibut tugging on the end of her line, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, as well as cooking, reading, and writing. On Saturday mornings, before the kids wake up, Brubaker daydreams about a little caterpillar and his friends and the stories they have to tell.
Amy Berga brings Brubaker’s debut children’s story, Caterpillar in a Cornfield, to life with wonderfully vibrant illustrations.
