The author of this book was born in the parish of St Mary, one of the fourteen parishes in the island of Jamaica, West Indies. Her professional background is in the field of education, and she has worked as a classroom teacher; Teacher Trainer, Early Childhood Unit, Ministry of Education; Education Officer, Ministry of Education;Training Manager, Social Sectors Development Project, Ministry of Education; Part Time Project Trainer of teachers and Principals in Reading; and as Lecturer. This writer holds a PhD in Christian Counselling from Georgia USA; Certificate in Clinical Pastoral Counselling (Georgia, USA); Certificate in Temperament Studies (GA, USA); Master of Arts in Educational Psychology, (UWI, Mona, JA); Bachelor in Early Childhood Education (UWI, Mona, JA); Certificate in Parenting Education (UWI, School of Continuing Studies, Mona, JA); Certificate in Early Childhood Education-Emphasis on the Family and the Community (Haifa, Israel); Certificate in Reading Difficulty and Behavioural Problems (Mico Teachers’ College, JA); and Certificate in Teacher Education (Mico Teachers’ College JA). This writer is also a dedicated Christian who has been serving the Lord for over forty nine years. She has worked in various departments of her church, serving as counsellor and in other capacities. She exhibits a great passion for helping others, especially the young and very old persons who need a hand of support and guidance.
