Críticas:
"The 'inside story' tag is no idle boast, author Mike Moreton having been the XJ220 project manager at TWR/JaguarSport. His candid account gives an insight into the trials and tribulations of this controversial supercar. It is well written, packed with fine photos such as crash-test shots and, most intriguingly, all manner of original charts and documents." - Classic & Sports Car "If anyone is well-placed to tell the inside story of this great car it's Mike Moreton, who was project manager for the XJ220 at TWR/JaguarSport from day one and saw the mission through to completion." - Classic Cars "The 160 pages gave over 200 photographs and, refreshingly, many have never been seen before. A marvellous present for the post Chrismas blues." - Jaguar World Monthly "The meat of the book is in the way it gives a fascinating look - with interesting photos from inside the factory, engineering drawings and so forth - of all that was involved with recruiting staff, redesign, aerodynamic testing, working with outside suppliers, spec sheets, certification and crash-testing, and sales." - New Zealand Classic Car "This stunning 160-page hardcover is a Jag enthusiast's dream. A fascinating and historically accurate account of the iconic car from embryonic stages to ultimate marketing." - The Arch. The XJ220 is one of the most important super cars of the 90s and thus a book about this vehicle is more than logical. The fact that even the former project manager at JaguarSport was available as an author and with Jim Randle also another important man as a co-author for a chapter could be committed, secures the book a deep insight into the history of the XJ220. So the subtitle The Inside Story is by no means exaggerated. The book then really convinces with many pictures from the different processes and the text also brings one of the other interesting anecdote to light. As well as of course all important details about the Jaguar XJ220. The book should have a firm place in the well-stocked car bookshelf. Fans of the Jaguar brand and also supercar fanatics should secure this title. - autobuch.guru.
Reseña del editor:
The Jaguar XJ220 is the fastest, most exciting and most expensive road-going Jaguar ever built, evolving from Jim Randle's 1988 UK Motor Show dream concept with the sensuous shape. 350 limited edition cars were developed and produced from 1989 to 1994 by JaguarSport, the Jaguar/Tom Walkinshaw TWR joint venture. Going on sale for GBP 290,000 with a GBP 50,000 non-returnable deposit, it attracted celebrities, speculators and the mega wealthy and was oversold in just one day. This inside story is an historically accurate account of the project from the director himself. Having recruited a talented team from motor sport and production car industries, a factory was developed in Bloxham, Oxfordshire. Working closely with Jaguar Design, TWR Group companies and specialist suppliers, the XJ220 team re-designed, built, tested, manufactured, and marketed the ultimate road car. Featuring over 200 photographs, many previously unpublished, showing the concept and production cars in all stages of development, with glamour shots and historical photos of Jaguar sports/racing cars, this book is a must for Jaguar enthusiasts.
