For years she had dreamed of going to Arabia and, when a job in the desert town of Al Ain presented itself, she jumped at it. Her life there and later in Dubai and Sharjah brought her into close contact with all manner of beasts and birds. She soon became involved in animal rescues and the breeding of endangered local wildlife - sand foxes, leopards, gazelles, agamas, a beautiful caracal and a faithful 'wolf-saluki' called Sandy, to name but a few. Alongside dedicated friends and in spite of a few equally dedicated foes, she spent twenty years working for wildlife, until she retired to France, accompanied by two pets and armed with two knighthoods from the Netherlands.
