Hardwicke Rawnsley's campaigning credentials were won when he joined the battle to preserve the unspoilt Cumbrian Lake District from a series of railway routes proposed by quarry owners. The Rev. Graham Murphy is a minister in the Unitarian Church in Liverpool. He writes for journals and local radio, and has also published a biography of the abolitionist William Roscoe.
