Carl Phillip Gottfried ('Gottlieb') von Clausewitz (1780-1831) was a Prussian soldier and intellectual widely acknowledged as being one of the most influential strategic thinkers. He is most famous for his work, Vom Kriege (On War), a military treatise, which remained unfinished at his death but is to this day the essential guide to strategic thinking in any environment.
