As professor of Educational Leadership and former principal, Dr. Amalia Humada-Ludeke’s overarching charge is to integrate teaching, research and service for the preparation of prospective schools leaders, and for building leadership capacity of seated principals. An emphasis is placed on developing change agents who possess the attributes, dispositions and skill-sets necessary for leading diverse schools in the 21st century, reflective of equitable and effective leadership practices.An integral part of her work is centered on cultivating and sustaining university-district partnerships with districts that are engaged in and committed to system-wide school renewal. As suggested by Wise (1991), “Schools will not improve unless the administrators and teachers within them improve.” This overarching tenet is firmly embedded in the framework that guides her work between the Alliance Outreach Center at New Mexico State University, and university-district partnerships focused on system approaches to school renewal.
