L'auteur considère que « l'inspiration cévenole nous apparaît comme un phénomène purement spirituel résultat naturel et inévitable d'une violente impulsion morale ». - DUBOIS Alfred Gustave Biographie : Né le 30 mai 1833 à Alès, mort à Anduze le 19 novembre 1874. Bachelier en théologie de la faculté protestante de Strasbourg en 1856 avec une thèse intitulée « Etude critique sur l'authenticité de la première épître à Timothée », et licencié en 1861 après en avoir soutenu une seconde sur « les prophètes cévenols ».
