Crown 8vo. 5.4 x 8 in {13.7 x 20.3 cm} approx. 175 pp. Lilac coloured boards with some fading to the upper board and along the top edge of the lower board. Metallic pink sparkling titles to the spine. corers and spine ends are sharp. Dust wrapper is unclipped at 35s. There is some minor browning to the flaps but the book appears to have been mylar wrapped for a long time as there is only marginal edge wear with a light crease to the front wrap and some rubbing to the front leading edge. Tight binding. Condition of book and jacket is very good plus. Clean unmarked text block profusely illustrated in black and white throughout with over 200 stills from her films, behind-the-scene shots with producers, directors, family, and friends, and her portraits. Introduction by Edward Wagenknecht. Loosely laid in Evening Standard newspaper clip dated 1979 covering her death and obituary. When short films were the rule, it was possible for a performer to star in dozens of films in a single year, thus the need for the filmography. Mary Pickford made her film debut in 1909 under the direction of D.W. Griffith. She starred in over 125 short films and over 50 features. Also included are pictures of Pickford later in life, as late as 1961. The author was a lifelong fan of the movie star.
