Orange full morocco covers are mostly clean, with gilt, leather overlay and blind stamped illustration. Boards show a few smudges. Corners are sharp. Spine has brown text and is bright with firm ends. Binding is strong. End papers/ pastedowns show little sign of age or wear; a little shading at edges from binding. Illustrations are bright and clear. Interior exhibits minimal signs of age and wear. Inside pages are free of writing and intentional marks. Text block edges have deckle fore and foot edges, pages are French-fold. Full cloth tray case of charcoal gray has orange morocco label on spine side.** PS2024.1010** 32 pages. 8 3/4 x 10 7/8 inches** A very fine example of letterpress printing from The Grenfell Press in full morocco binding, fitted in a cloth tray case. With linocut illustrations. Included in the case is the original Publisher's announcement of the edition.** The contents are verbal art by Gilbert Sorrentino (1929-2006), a comic, layered query utilizing nouns from the poetry of Wallace Stevens. Sorrentino, an American novelist, short story writer, poet, literary critic, professor, and editor, explored the comic and formal possibilities of language and literature in his fiction and poetry. The accompanying prints are by David Storey (b. 1948), who "created a sycopated balance with the text's humor and with the type page." (Publisher)** Edition of 85 copies.
