Undated - estimated date is early 1900's . Small 8vo (c. 5 x 4 in), pp. unnumbered , circa 250, illustrated frontis, hardback. Book - VG, one page spread with some smudge marks otherwise contents clean, a single inscription, no foxing, binding sound ; brown cloth with decorated gilt title to spine, gilt decoration panel to front board and similar blind panel to back board, corners lightly rubbed, back clean, spine complete with light rubbing to ends and gilt titling complete and bright, possibly a touch of fading to spine, front is clean with gilt decoration complete and bright . No dustwrapper. Although the printed title in the book is the Birthday Book of German Literature, the title on the spine and front cover is "Mayfield Birthday Book". Each monthly section consists of a poem (in German) on the recto of a page and on the verso three days listed with a quotation in English of a German author and on the opposite page three blank entry sections (and on the verso of that page is another three days of quotes and opposite 3 blanks , etc).
