Sir Charles Bunbury (1809-1886) was a keen geologist, botanist and particular friend of Sir Charles Lyell. He collected plant specimens on expeditions to South America in 1833 and South Africa in 1838 and much of Botanical Fragments is taken up with notes on the vegetation of Brazil and South America, and the vegetation of the Cape of Good Hope. Thomas de Grey, 6th. Baron Walsingham (1843-1919) was an English politician and entomologist of note. He was President of the Etomological Society of London and a Trustee of the British Museum.
