Nice collection of five separate pieces of artwork by jacket illustrator Bip Pares. All on tall octavo sized card-stock boards, mixed media (pencil, acrylic, watercolor). Pares was a prolific jacket artist during the 1930's, her career ranging from the Jazz Age to the 1950's. She is known to have illustrated covers for more than 600 titles and drew maps for the Daily Express during the Second World War. Media on boards, all signed by Pares, and original overlay cellophane wrapper with lettering laid over. The titles for which this collection includes the jacket artwork for include: Fair Fat Lady by Noel De Vic Beamish, published by Ivor Nicholson and Watson [1937] (large chips to cellophane overlay); Unknown title, with woman holding rake and looking out into the distance and ocean view, lacks cellophane wrapper.; Saturday at Hazeldines by Vera Wheatley, published by Thornton Butterworth [1936] (black and white medium, color to overlay with significant loss); Seven Heirs Apparent by Sir George Arthur. Thornton Butterworth [1937] (significant loss to overlay); So Great a Man by David Pilgrim, published by MacMillan [1937] (black and white media, overlay with several long tears); Jake by Naomi Royde Smith, published by MacMillan [1935] (overlay torn vertically).
