Beschreibung
Stated Second Edition. The First Edition was published in 1949. The book is signed by the author on the first front end paper. The inscription reads To Doris Moffat from Betty and George Marion, San Diego, Dec, 3, 1954.' You can see the covers in the photos. They are in very nice condition, very clean, the lettering on the front and spine is nicely bright. I don't see any soiling on the covers. The edges and corners are in excellent shape. The spine ends have a little bit of crinkling, nothing else. The page edges look very good. The binding of the book is solid from cover to cover. The covers themselves are also solidly bound. The interior of the book looks very good. Scrolling through, I didn't find any conspicuous soiling. A number of later pages have a very light semi-crease at the bottom corner, far from the print. I didn't see any other creasing. There are no markings. No attachments of any kind. And the author's signed inscription is the only writing to be found anywhere in the book. I did find one page that had a few tiny bits of rubbing over a few words in the print, not enough to prevent one from reading any of these words. There is also a slight bit of minor rubbing at the outer margin of one page, not touching the print. You can see the dust jacket in the first few photos. It's in very solid shape. It has only the slightest bit of wear. The flaps are in solid shape. The jacket is NOT price-clipped, not clipped at all. It will be fitted with a protective cover after the photos are scanned. The one-page interesting Introduction is written by Dashiell Hammett. Howard Fast is quoted on the rear flap: 'A brilliant and important job! What a different complexion the political scene in America would have today if every American could read this book!' A reviewer from The National Guardian States 'As exciting as a Hammett whodunit.'.
