Connie Mack s Baseball Book Forward by Red Smith, Illustrated by Floyd Torbert, Alfred A. Knopf, New York, 1950, 243 pp plus index, red pictorial cloth, 9 x 5.75 , 8vo. In poor condition. As-is. Lacking dust jacket. Ex-library of the Harrisburg Public Library and Methodist Mission of Harrisburg, PA. Boards are quite worn heavy soiling and fraying. Corners rubbed to cardboard. Manuscript spine poor with soiling. Connie Mack s signature on fly. Internally toned at edges with consistent fingersoiling and red withdrawn stamping throughout. Binding broken and shaken. Textblock detached from binding. Free of known marginalia. Rear fly torn with loss. A great candidate for proper restoration, if desired. The first edition signed by Connie Mack! Mack has the most managerial wins, losses and games in baseball history. He managed the Philadelphia Athletics for fifty years. His autograph is quite valuable and makes a great gift for any collector of sports memorabilia. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers RAREA1950BHJB
