Hardcover. SCARCE. SIGNED BY AUTHOR. Margaret E. Sangster, Jr., (approx. 1890-1981) was a writer of verse, novels and radio scripts for more than half a century. She wrote many popular dramatic and soap-opera scripts, especiallyfor the ABC radio network, including ''My True Story,'' ''Light of the World,'' and ''Whispering Streets''. Sangster, Jr. began writing as a teen-ager, contributing poetry to the magazine Christian Herald, and she was a war correspondent for the magazine during World War I. She wrote a monthly column for the Christian Herald for nearly 50 years. After leaving the Christian Herald, she became managing editor of Photoplay magazine and also contributed to Cosmopolitan, Redbook and McCalls. Sangster was the granddaughter of Margaret E. Sangster (1838-1912), also an American poet, author, and editor, whose works frequently focused on Christian themes. This volume of prose and poetry by Sangster, Jr. was issued in 1914, when she was in her early 20s, and just 2 years after her grandmother's death. According to the preface, some of the material was previously published in the Christian Herald and the New York Times. 8vo. Olive green cloth boards with black title to spine and front board.
