A presentation copy inscribed by the author's brother, the book's editor and, in this volume, memoirist of his sister. Green textured cloth binding, a couple of marks and some rubbing to the cloth over the outer hinges. Rossetti's inscription appears on the first flyleaf 'To Miss Annie Barlow Wm. M Rossetti April 1917.' Opposite is a stamp of 'The Bolton School Girls' Division Library' and a small red star paper label and two numbers. There is some browning to the margin of the title page and Rossetti's portrait opposite which does not have the usual tissue guard. This is the 1914 reprint of William M Rossetti's 1904 edition which is preceded by Rossetti's memoir of his sister and 508 pages of her poems. A near very good copy. Christina Rossetti came from a fabled Anglo-Italian literary and artistic family who wrote the words of two of our favourite Christmas carols 'In the Bleak Midwinter' and 'Love Came Down at Christmas'. She was the sister of the artist and poet Dante Gabriel Rossetti and features in several of his paintings. William Michael Rossetti was the longest lived of the siblings, surviving well into the 20th century, inscribing this copy of his sister's poems two years before his death in 1919.
