This well-rounded third baseman and left fielder played for the Brooklyn Dodgers (1951-54), Baltimore Orioles (1956-57, 1958, 1962-62), Cleveland Indians (1957), Kansas City Athletics (1959-60) and Boston Red Sox (1963-64) before becoming a celebrated manager for a half dozen teams for twenty years, earning pennants in both the American and National Leagues and bringing two teams to the World Series; in 2008 he was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Color IPS, 3½" X 5½", n.p., n.y. [1980]. Fine. Handsome printed half-length portrait of the smiling Montreal Expos manager in uniform, boldly inscribed and signed in black fineline on a light portion: "To Richard, / Sincerely, / Dick Williams."
