First Edition (NAP). With 6 full color reproductions and 350 rare black and white photographs. The front inside cover and first end paper form a large photograph of a lavishly decorated room in a railway car (same with the rear inside cover and rear end paper). The next page is the Limitation Page. There is a drawing by an Otto Kuhler of 'The Gold Coast In Train Line' and below that reads 'Of This Limited Gold Coast Edition 1950 copies have been printed and signed by the Author. This is Copy No. 187.' The 1887 is a red stamp. Below that is the signature of the author, Lucius Beebe. On the next page there is a tipped-in color photograph of 'the drawing-observation salon of the Pullman-built private car The Virginia City.' The photograph has a small crease at its bottom corner where it meets the facing title page when the book is closed. The interior of this book is in exceptional condition. It looks unused. If you're stretching to find an imperfection, there's a hint of a crease near the top corner of a few consecutive pages. There are great many glossy pages of photographs and, happily they don't have any of the foxing or spotting that you often see with glossy paper. In fact they don't even have any toning, something that is also fairly common with glossy pages. All of the photographs appear to be in perfect condition. The pages are exceptionally clean. In scrolling through I didn't see any soiling at all. There are three small tan spots on the blank rear end paper that precedes the illustrated rear end paper. On the rear side of the illustrated rear end paper there is an affixed envelope (opening at the top) which contains the drawing of the Private Car Japauldon, Jan. 21. 1926 Plan 2145 6-B by the American Car And Foundry Co. This 8-Sectioned diagram 'blueprint' (seven folds) is in excellent condition. It has one small crease (not touching the print) at the left bottom corner, and the furthest section to the right sas a little bit of toning or discoloration, quite minor. Otherwise it is in perfect condition, very clean, no tears. I'm pricing my book as the least expensive copy containing the diagram. You can see the covers of the book in the photos. They look absolutely terrific. They are perfectly clean. The gilt lettering and design on the front and spine are both very bright and free of wear. The edges and corners of the covers look perfect. The spine is in excellent condition. The page edges are perfectly clean. Beautiful book. You can see the slipcase in the photos. It have some scuffing and a little tearing/rub-through around the spine ends. However, it is quite solid. Lucius Beebe was an American author, gourmand, photographer, railroad historian, journalist and syndicated columnist. Along with his friend Charles Clegg, Beebe owned two private railcars, the Gold Coast and The Virginia City. The Gold Coast, Georgia Northern / Central of Georgia No. 100, was built in 1905 and is now at the California State Railroad Museum. After Beebe and Clegg purchased The Virginia City, they had it refurbished and redecorated by famed Hollywood set designer Robert T. Hanley in a style known as Venetian Renaissance Baroque. The Virginia City has been restored and currently operates as an excursion car.'. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 003444
