Beschreibung
277 pp., index, references, notes, photographs. SCARCE. A fine, tight, unblemished copy. Stated 12th printing. This is one of the books the author bought back from the University of Arizona Press after they discontinued its controversial publication. SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR and inscribed, wherein he decries that this is the last printing ever of this book. Controversial to this day but ground breaking in many ways, this book tells the story of the turbulent, interesting life of Wyatt Earp through the eyes of his common-law wife Josephine. Included is a fourteen page form letter, containing a proposed "draft foreword" by Boyer if the book would ever be reprinted along with a two page promo to sell the book and form letter. In both he explains/defends his side of the story. The letter and promo both have many hand written annotations related to the circumstances of the University of Arizona Press discontinuing this book. Interesting reading of his point of view.
