INSCRIBED by MELBA. Hardcover. Blue cloth boards with gilt titles to spine and front cover. In generally good condition. Spine faded with moderate carry-over to front and back covers. No dust jacket. Preliminaries light spotting, internally clean. Inscription reads: "To dear Mr Bartett with love from Nellie Melba [ ] 1927." As to be expected, a glowing blush of an autobiography by the internationally Australian, super-star soprano in the age of Caruso - who together recorded Butterfly duet finding Melba interpolating Puccini's Italian text commenting on Caruso's three sheets to the wind state: "He's had a highball".
