Beschreibung
3rd printing. Boards show light wear and a bit of chipping to spine ends; binding tight; pages clean; rear gutter cracked. Married to a 7th-printing dust jacket, price-clipped and toned with chips to spine ends. Inscribed by Davies on front endpaper to an attorney friend named John A. Flannery (who may or may not be an educationalist after whom a New York school is named). FDR named Davies the second U.S. ambassador to the Soviet Union in 1936; from 1939 to 1941, he was in charge of War Emergency Problems and Policies. Davies was also astonishingly credulous when it came to Stalin, officially reporting that the Soviet Union was democratic and benign even as he witnessed show trials. Anyway, 'Mission to Moscow' sold some 700,000 copies worldwide, and Warner Brothers adapted it into a film starring Walter Huston as Davies. A fascinating document of a very particular historical moment. Two pounds. 662 pages. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 7967

If I've mischaracterized a book, please let me know, and I'm happy to accept returns for refunds.
Orders usually ship within three business days. I generally pack books in boxes, with padding, and unless they're unusually bulky or heavy -- more than four pounds or so -- I won't ask for additional shipping costs. For domestic media-mail buyers, anyway. Prices for international and even priority shipping can get *insane*.
