Inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper with a four-line fragment from his poem "A Fountain, a Bottle, a Donkey's Ears, and Some Books" (not printed in this book). Octavo (8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches; 216 x 145 mm). 75, [1, blank], [1, publisher s list], [3, blank] pp. Frontispiece portrait with tissue guard. The first poem in this book is "The Road Not Taken." Manuscript poem fragment reads "How had the tender verse escaped their outrage?/ By being invisible for what it was,/ Or else by some remoteness that defied them/ To find out what to do to hurt a poem" Publisher s quarter dark green cloth over gray green paper boards. Front cover lettered in gilt and spine ruled and lettered in gilt. A nearly invisible dampstain to front board and top edges. In the original printed dust jacket.
