1984 Second Edition. SIGNED by Fred Beckey on the title page with black ballpoint pen -- very strong signature. This second edition is exactly the same as the first edition other than the change in publisher name/place, the copyright information, and the date of publication: same format, same DJ illustration, same number of pages, same size, same collection of photos and text. Original dark navy covers with gilt lettering spine, grayish blue EPs. The book is in excellent condition with the slightest bit of rubbing to bottom of spine and tips of bottom corners (just a tiny bit of loss of color), clean covers, no previous owner marks or writing on any pages (other than Beckey's signature), no foxing, tight binding. The original dust jacket has no tears, no loss, is clean, complete with original printed price still present on the front flap corner. The book measures 31cm tall x 23cm, and has 256 pages, 140 color photos, bibliography. Thorough history of the great peaks of North America -- Alaska to Mexico to New England -- complemented with 140 outstanding color photos selected by Beckey. Author includes much from his own climbing experiences on these peaks.
