Bob Holman's written works, in a way, defy categorization. Perhaps that is as he wished it to be. Much of the book seems a kind of Joycean stream of consciousness . a stream that flows through American culture in all its wonderment and grittiness, picking up detritus and transforming it into urgent utterance.
