(10.8 x 24 cm.) Glossy stock photograph. Signed "Fats Domino" in blue felt pen in upper right corner. Catalog entry on verso: "6.475 Fats Domino". Fine. I'm a King but you can wear my crown. - "Be My Guest" (1959) Classic, circa 1950s promotional photo of music pioneer, Antoine "Fats" Domino. This quiet and introverted piano player from New Orleans, is almost single-handedly responsible for creating much of popular music as we know it today. He was a genius of the simple hook and a master of the piano triplets. His song, "The Fat Man" (1949), is often cited as the very first Rock and Roll record. John Lennon's first learned song on the guitar was Domino's "Ain't That a Shame". In his company, Elvis Presley deferred to him. His version of "Blueberry Hill" (1956), a song made famous by another son of New Orleans, Louis Armstrong (an extrovert), was #1 on the Rhthym and Blues charts for nearly three months. He is considered the originator of the sound of "Ska" music. His "rolling" piano style has continued to influence a diversity of musicians including Elton John, Norah Jones, Led Zepplin, Willie Nelson, Trombone Shorty and Richard Hell. An early inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (1986), his concerts of the 1950s and 60s were so popular, that young folks ignored segregation laws and voluntarily integrated, his infectious music harkening a shift in draconian racial conventions. It seemed no one could resist the lure of seeing Fats. His short disappearance during Hurricane Katrina (2005) sent a tsunami of worry and grief around the world which ended happily with the eventual return of this universally reknown, yet shy and humble, music Titan. Signed with flair, in blue felt pen ink. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 44
