This book is not a typical Hardcover. It's actually not a hardcover at all, but the window in which one is required to identify the binding doesn't offer anything describing heavy Copper covers and spirals. That's what we have here. I've seen it described as a 'forged type copper'. Not sure. I haven't ever seen covers like this. This is a Limited Edition of 50. This may be number 1. The inside copper cover has 1/50 engraved at the bottom left-hand corner along with the engraved signature of the author/photographer Jock McDonald at the right bottom corner. It is most certainly a very rare edition. The only other copy I found was selling for $750.00. The book has seventeen silver gelatin hand-made prints each preceded and protected by a thick (cellophane?) page with the title of the work. There are also four introductory pages of text and one final page of text after the last print. The photographs are images of country life in Russia. The book is 6" by 6" and the prints are 4 1/2" by 4 1/2". My price may be quite a bargain. It just seemed like $750.00 was an awful lot of money. So I cut it in half. Then I knocked another $75 off due to a few condition issues. Before I communicate them I'll tell you that the book is extremely well bound. I can't see any binding issues developing for at least a few centuries. And no one has written their name or anything else on any page in the book. The book's imperfections are as follows. The copper of the inside covers apparently caused the surface of the first (the half-title) and last (a blank end paper) pages to absorb some of the copper color. On the last page it looks a little like very light dust soiling. On the half title page it can be seen between the spirals only. But along the edges of the page the white page material has the appearance of being rubbed at so I suspect that was the result of a cleaning up of the copper residue. I've provided a photo of the half-title page. The other imperfection can be seen on the last 15 pages. It would appear that there was contact with something damp at the top of these pages. You can see the outline of the affected area on the rear end paper which is in that cellophane or cellophane-like material and you can see it on the blank backs of the other affected pages. You won't see it on the prints themselves, not on their fronts. Rather, you will see (though my photograph may not pick it up) some light rippling or waving of the paper at the top. The last two photographs (a front and back) are from the affected pages. Those are the only imperfections. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 000894
