This member of the first non-U.K. team to defeat England at home (FAI XI, 1949) was an Irish soccer start who played right-half for the Shamrock Rovers (1939-46), Everton (1946-57), Tranmere Rovers (1957-60) and Sligo Rovers (1961); he played for both Irish national teams from 1946 to 1957. Bold "To Richard / With Best Wishes / From / Peter Farrell / (ex Everton F.C.)" in blue ballpoint on a special heavy stock 5" X 3" card, n.p., dated 1981 September 7 in his hand. Near fine.
