The likable American actor made a large number of film and television appearances from the 1950s until his death; an older generation remember him as "Chester" in 290 episodes of the television Western "Gunsmoke" between 1955 and 1964, a younger generation remember him as "McCloud" from 1970 to 1974; his many film appearances include "Seven Angry Men" (1955) and Steven Spielberg's directorial debut in the television film "Duel" (1971). A large and bold signature in blue fineline on a heavy stock 5" X 3" card, dated by him 3 July 1989 at upper right. Fine. With original transmittal envelope. Accompanied by an unsigned color glossy 8" X 10" photograph, a half-length promotional portrait of a smiling Weaver showing his badge, a gun and book ("The Brass Bed" by Daniel Ellis Stone) in foreground -- "Stone" being a 1980 made-for-t.v. film and short-lived t.v. series as well.
