This pitcher -- often quoted as saying "I hate both of them [Joe Cronin and Ty Cobb]. Enough said!" -- debuted in 1923 with the New York Giants, also playing for the Philadelphia Athletics (1923-33) and Boston Red Sox (1934-37); he played in the 1929, 1930 and 1931 World Series.
