Twenty stories about frontier life of the Old West, with chapters on men like Soapy Smith, Bat Masterson, Curly Bill Brocius, Clay Allison, and other gunfighters, gamblers, miners, and outlaws. George Tower Buffum (1846-1926) was a manufacturer who lived in St. Louis. He traveled around the west and had been a sometime resident of Albuquerque prior to the publication of Smith of Bear City.
