The autobiography of the England amateur cricket captain, Bob Wyatt, who had a lengthy county career with initially Warwickshire and then, after the second world war, with Worcestershire. He also went on numerous tours (from Burma to Egypt) and, at the time of his death, was the longest-lived Test cricketer. Flat SIGNED by author on half-title page. This autobiography was written towards the end of his playing days. Book in fair condition: Some wear to the covers, especially evident on the spine; a previous owner's signature and address on front free end paper; a few marks internally; some mild marks on outside edges of text block. First edition, first printing of Three Straight Sticks by R.E.S. Wyatt, published by Stanley Paul in 1951, fully illustrated with black and white photography. A near fine copy, signed by the author on an England Test Cricketers bookplate in blue ink to the title page, feint stamp 'John D. Pickering, 88, Morton Street, Carlisle', to the front free end paper, with minor handling wear and rubbing to the black cloth bound boards, the text block with some toning to the top edge. The very good unclipped wrapper with fading to the spine, white paint traces to foot of the spine, chipping to the spine tips and knuckles of front and rear flap folds, some pushing and creasing to upper edge of front panel, closed tear to lower edge of front panel and browning to the rear panel.
