This is text printed printed with a digital 4-color process on cherry wood in shape of a postcard by Jenny Holzer (the 2018 editions are a little larger than the previous editions: size:4 x 6in x 1/8in thick); it is hand SIGNED by Jenny Holzer; trade edition size believed to be 500 unsigned, text is from her TRUISMS, this one is printed in red and reads: " TORTURE IS BARBARIC"; the first editions are silkscreen printed, without her name on the back, and published by the artist; while the second editions published by Fotofolio, N.Y., N.Y. states on the back: " c JENNY HOLZER. FOTOFOLIO/ARTPOST. WJH_", (there was also an edition by Printed Matter); each with a clear varnish finish over the wood; most of the Truism's text where printed in red but there are some printed in black; on the opposite side is formatted as a postcard for mailing with the text: "on the opposite side is formatted as a postcard for mailing with the text: "Standard Letter rate" TO": and then a straight line down the middle; the First Editions are in the permanent collection of the Print Dept. of the Museum of Modern Art; PROVENANCE: book singing at Printed Matter 2018 for her new book Belligerent (ALSO she signed other items like her postcards); in EXCELLENT COND.
