An excellent copy of this religious study. Second edition, Summer 1956. Inscribed by author on front endpaper. Other than this inscription, interior is crisp, clean, and free of marks. Binding is solid and sturdy. Exterior is worn along the edges and joints. Front cover has a small square stain from a previous price sticker. Inside front cover has a tiny bit of white out covering the original price. Exterior has some light scuffing/rubbing overall. Generally speaking this copy is in great condition. Hardcover. First Edition. Two copies of this book, one is INSCRIBED and SIGNED to Eleanor Roosevelt ("Fried of all true hearts/and beloved of her people--/Shalom!") and the other to Franklin Roosevelt (Champion in Israel's Cause"). The subject of the book is Boake Carter, the Rush Limbaugh of his time, who in the 1930s had more listeners than any other radio commentator. His commentaries were controversial, notably his criticisms of Roosevelt's New Deal, and by 1937 the Roosevelt White House already had three federal agencies investigating him. In the early 1940s, Carter was drawn into a "British Israelite" cult led by a Moses Guibbory. This book, by a fellow cult adherent, documents his final years. Franklin Roosevelt, of course, died in 1945, four years before publication of this book. Horowitz possibly inscribed this to FDR, Jr., or just as likely, as a member of a cult, ignored the fact of his death. Spines sunned and lightly frayed. Very Good, lacking the dustwrappers.
