Very special third printing from 1942, SIGNED by Robert McCloskey on the title page without inscription. First printings of this beloved book are rare; this signed, early copy would make an excellent "placeholder" in a collection. Russet cloth book with black illustration of duckling to cover; illustrated endpapers. Boards are clean and tight with just a little edge wear, and the endpapers have some toning. Tidy, contemporary, non-authorial gift inscription to previous owner. Interior pages crisp and bright, nearly all perfectly clean, only a very few tiny, light stains. Dust jacket has chipping to caps and corners, rubbing and some separation at folds, but clean and attractive. Double medal stickers (showing both sides of medal) to front panel.
