Octavo. Pp.141. Karlfried, Count Durckheim, led a fascinating life. A WWI veteran, he was an enthusiastic Nazi, He took a doctorate in psychology, and taught gestalt therapy at the Bauhous. He joined the Brownshirts, and became first assistant to Ribbentrop. Upon the discovery of his Jewish grandmother, he could no longer work for the Reich in Germany, so Ribbentrop sent him as a special envoy to Japan. There he studied Zen Buddhism, and became an eminent teacher, while still a Nazi. . Imprisonment by the Allies, at the end of the war, gave him the opportunity to perfect his meditation and philosophy. Returning to Germany, he created a new school of spiritual psychotherapy, and founded a center for his practice. This copy of the second edition of "Zen and Us" is INSCRIBED AT LENGTH in German on the half-title. Very slightly warped, else fine, in cloth boards and NF dust jacket.
