This copy would seem to have come from a reunion of this famous squadron with @76 signatures and 12 related letters and ephemeral items. 2 of the letters are from Air Chief Marshal Sir Basil Edward Embry in command of No 2 group Bomber Command . A tribute is inscribed on the Title page by Michael Bowyer. There are various highlights and annotations through out the text.8vo. 352pp. 90 illustrations, 24 maps. Original cloth in slightly worn dust wrapper. All edges slightly browned top edge more so. A very interesting item more so if the signatures were to be identified. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 1514

After equipping with Blenheims it specialized in daylight operations. It engaged in the first raid of the war. After taking part in the Norweigan campaign, it was thrown into the struggle to save France. Heavy losses ensued during operations demanding great courage. A hazardous anti-shipping campaign took the Group to Malta. Night intruder operations were made against airfields, and fighter-escorted attacks on Occupied Territory continued until the 1944 Allied landings in France, where support to the invasion was subsequently given and an effective night interdictor campaign carried out. The Group mounted many spectacular operations, particularly when using Mosquitoes. This is indeed a story of immense courage.
