Beschreibung
Octavo, light green wrappers printed in darker green, stapled, slightly soiled. First edition, volume 5, number 3, spring 1945, prints works by John Frederick Nims, Richard Eberhart, Oscar Williams, and Maude Phelps Hutchins. A presentation copy, inscribed by Hutchins to Philip C. Jessup: "For Phil, Something light to read before going to bed. Maude," beside her play "The Marriage of Toto," on the front cover. The recipient, US diplomat Jessup, who served as a judge on the International Court of Justice at The Hague, was credited with playing a major role in ending the Soviet blockade of West Berlin. Hutchins, an acclaimed artist, authored "Diagrammatics" (1932) and the coming-of-age novel "Victorine" (1959). Jessup and Hutchins were Connecticut neighbors. A wonderful presentation copy.
