Rare First Edition of this legendary sports book written by the famed journalist, cartoonist and pioneer sports agent, Christy Walsh, and SIGNED by him with personalized inscription to equally legendary football coach Howard Jones with a color cartoon of him to the front endpaper in football regalia and the names of the various teams to his jersey; Walsh was a close personal friend and promoter of Babe Ruth & was his incipient "sports agent", as well as the later agent of Lou Gehrig, Dizzy Dean, Ty Cobb & many others; he founded the Christy Walsh Syndicate of sports "ghostwriters" that included Ford Frick, Damon Runyon and Gene Fowler; Jones of course, was most famously associated with his last coaching position, USC, where he was undefeated in 5 Rose Bowl appearances; he was also a first ballot inductee into the College Football Hall of Fame as a coach in its inaugural year (1951); light shelf wear & quiet soil to the red cloth boards decorated with a black-stamped typewriter along with the by-lines of the many sports figures Walsh ghostwrote for over the years, pages bright & unfoxed with a few soft corner creases, illustrated with numerous photos, many featuring Babe Ruth and other baseball figures, an excellent overall copy of this very scarce title, produced in a very small number by Walsh to give to "esteemed friends & associates" in the sports world, this copy with associations to a true football coaching legend; 8vo; 43pp illus.
